Our regular Nordic Walks, taster sessions and courses have been reintroduced working within the UK Government guidelines - see below.

This year we are hoping to bring you the Kings Forest Ultra in Oct- already over subscribed and a Festive Edition of the Bury to Clare in support of St Nicholas Hospice. We are working hard to make sure our events are safe and working within the UK Government guidelines .

Bury to Clare Festive Challenge 2020

Sadly no Festive forest Challenge this festive season due to the constraint placed upon us by Forestry England. However, we are planning on bring a Festive edition of the popular Bury to Clare Challenge

A linear 18 mile run or walk, in support of St Nicholas Hospice Care from Bury St Edmunds to Clare, with £5 from every entry going to them. A route over the gently undulating countryside of West Suffolk.

The route will be marked. The challenge is to complete the challenge within 8 hrs. Everyone to be finished by 3:00pm.

Please note this is a linear route and due to Covid -19 there will be no transport available. You will need to organise transport back to your car.

All finishers will receive a bespoke medal to mark their achievement. The medal is based on artwork titled night and day by Surinder Wardboys which is displayed in the hospice chapel.

Event Details

Start time: We will have a rolling start. Small groups (no more than 6 persons) to be set off at 5 minute intervals between 6:45am and 11:00am. It will be up to entrants to make the decision regarding their start time, but please bear in mind that you must be finished at 3:00pm.

Entry details: Entries are online via Si Entries, using the link on this page. If you have not used Si Entries previously you will need to create an account with before entering. Once you have entered and paid you will receive confirmation and other correspondence about the race via Si Entries. Initially this may go into your spam box. If you need to amend any details of your entry you can log into your account at anytime and edit your entry. If you misplace any emails about the race you can go to message history and retrieve all emails.

Results details: We will use gun time,and also manually recording your race number at checkpoints/finish for safety reasons. Please ensure your race number is clearly visible to marshals at all times. We will endeavour to check & publish results within 48 hours of the event finish.

Entry cost: Solo entries - UKA affiliated £24, Unaffiliated £26.

Refunds: There will be no refunds for this event

Deferment: Entries cannot be deferred on this event

Transport: Please note this is a linear route and due to Covid -19 there will be no transport available. You will need to organise transport back to your car.

Postponement: Should it be necessary to postpone the race due to no fault of Positive Steps Fitness and Wellbeing Ltd, we will reschedule the event to another date in the current year or in the following year. Participants will be given the option to transfer to the rescheduled event or to be given a voucher code of an equivalent value for a future event.

Race numbers: Bib numbers will be posted to runners.

Cut off: All participants must complete the challenge by 3pm

Refreshments: In addition to drinks, only packaged foods will be provided at checkpoints. There will be less of a selection of food available than in other years, so you will be expected to more self-sufficient than usual and carry some of your own energy supplies from the start;

First aid: First Aiders will be present at the start/finish and along the course. If you develop medical problems, please alert the nearest marshal and prompt assistance will be provided.

St Nicholas Hospice Care is a local charity supporting people and families in West Suffolk and Thetford who are living with a life-shortening illness.

Race Rules

The race will be held under UK Athletics rules (permit applied for).

Dogs – England Athletics insurance does NOT allow dogs in events. It is with regret that no dogs will be allowed on this event.
